I was just curious, but has anyone ever tried and had any luck with cutting their stock shifter to make it a short throw? I've got all the tools to do it, as well as the money to buy a new short throw kit, but I figured if it was safe to cut the stock one and make it a short, I could save that money and use it elsewhere.

It's not the height of the shifter that makes it a short throw. The pivot point is changed and that's what makes it a shorter throw.

Spend the money, buy a kartboy short shift kit. Nothing else compares.

How about "go fast bits"? Any review about it? Just curious...
