Like Genya said, it is. At your own risk... (and if you think you're running low boost, do not futz with it trying to raise boost above target levels) Remember that screwing around with this stuff can be a quick and easy way to blow up your car. Remove heatshield. Pop the c-clip holding the wastegate actuator arm to the wastegate arm (you'll see where it is) -- DO NOT LOSE IT! It's tiny and easy to flick off the arm into the engine bay. Loosen the locknut. Lift the actuator arm off the WG arm and tighten. I would go a half, MAYBE a whole turn at a time. Don't go nuts. Put the c-clip back on between adjustments of course. If you start boost spiking (please do this with a data logger and not by watching the gauge only), back off a half turn. You're looking for smooth, solid boost with no spiking, hitting your target boost level. Tighten the lock nut. Replace heatshield. I had to do this to get to target levels on Cobb stage 2... took 2 turns and it was perfect. The 05s are allegedly shipped with a fairly loose WG arm from the factory.
Hmmmmm well, ill wait to do this then, i have no way of data logging. Ill wait until someone that can data log and help me do this, but im not hitting target boost, im seeing around 13.5max, and im looking for 16
From talking with people from other forums it seems that 16psi is the amount of boost one would want to run on the stock turbo, is that not correct?
I think you're misunderstanding 'target boost' here. By that I mean what the ECU is looking to hit based on its maps. The stock ECU is looking for something like 13.5psi so do not mess with the WG adjustment unless you're actually getting less than that. 16psi is way above! My Cobb stage 2 map had a target of 15.5 and I was only seeing like 14.1 so that's why I went ahead and adjusted mine.
Ohh ok i got you, ive running turbo XS Stage 2 unichip but i dont know the specifics of that chip to be honest as far as target boost goes. I guess ill just wait until i UTEC the car and go from there.
