Strange metal on metal noise

It is not boost specific, sounds kinda like if your brake pads were really low and were just going metal on metal...not a squeek noise, but just the noise of metal grinding on metal. I notice it at idle and when I rev it up in neutral. It is not a hissing noise, but something else. It is coming from the front of the vehicle. I listened at the turbo and it is definitely coming from the front part of the car closer to the pulleys and such...I just can't tell exactly where. I am going to try changing the belts and lubing the idler/tensioner pulley tomorrow and see if that helps at all. The belts are due for a change anyway. I am really hoping I have not spun a bearing or something. It still seems to drive normal...so I am hoping it is not internal. If anyone has any ideas feel free to throw them out.

Mine did that a couple times. If you have an air compressor, take an air nozzle and blow in the gap between the A/C pulley and the clutch itself. Blow it from several different angles, both in front and behind the pulley. When I did that, all kinds of dust blew out of the gap. After that the noise was gone.

Hope this helps man! Let me know if it works out!

Cool, I sprayed that and the tensioner pully today with a little wd-40 as they looked a bit rusty and that seemed to quiet things down a bit. I don't have access to a air compressor but gas station should work, lol. Thanks for the tip!

clutch is designe dto work with friction (engagement) if you use WD40 (lube) tht may contradict the design - just my 2c
if you localized the area and put a drop of light oil on it that would work better

I would not spray wd40 on my brakes when it squeks :)

I hear ya, but it is not designed to be rusty, lol.
