I am having a problem with some struts. The guy I purchased some struts from only had one that worked on the front. His perspective of the car was from the front, so I ordered the other strut thinking he meant from the drivers seat. So now I have two driver side struts. Although the bottom mount is different, I can still bolt the abs line and brake line to the strut. Is this a bad idea to have the wrong side strut mounted? It went together fine and it will mount up, but the bolts now are in the opposite side also. Can some please help me... Thanks,
    Tom

I am by no means an expert but if the bolt pattern is off set it sounds like it would offset the location of the strut and possibly throw off alignment. I think caster camber is adjusted amongst other places at the strut tower. Could also put differen't angle of pressure on those bolts causing them to fail. Could be wrong but that's my take on it!

Well I am only refering to the bottom bolts that connect the brake and strut together. Now instead of having the nuts facing the front, they face the rear. So I can still get the camber bolt to work. The spring will sit in the two purches fine. I am just concerned that for some reason the struts aren't semetric. Anyone else have a take?

So both strut went on fine. I wasn't able to reconnect the brake line to the strut on one side, but they are steel braided. I haven't driven on them yet, because the rears aren't finished. I will still probably end up calling KYB today to see what they say...

So the clef mates up just fine? I can see no negative side effects of daily driving. I, however, would not push the car like that. Its driving with the opposite geometry and can only imagine that it would put some sort of funky ware on that part of the suspension and wheel.

How much is the strut ?
Sell it for 1/2 price on ebay, remove all doubt and get a new correct one.
We all love our toys and can you sleep well, knowing there is something not quite right.
Bite the bullet and get a new strut and sell the older one
