so im kinda new to the suby scene... i have an 07 impreza wagon and i love it more than life itself. so iv installed an sti short throw shifter and my new exhaust comes in soon. is a 2.5rs and its a lease so turbo is out of the question but im completely open to suggestions.
Ah. Wait. I gotcha. It's a 2.5i. Alright. You've leased an 07 2.5i and want to get some good power gains out of it without doing anything irreversible, correct?
Welcome! Theres a few N/A guys on here that can help you more but.. A few ways to make power would be: 1)Larger exhaust 2)Intake 3)headers
NA engines respond much more favorably to things like intake mods, so you're lucky in that respect since they're generally on the cheap side. Also, as far as power goes, it's not all about making sick horsepower. Lots of people get hung up on just making more power. It's all about the driving experience, and RSs can be a blast. Some people say the fact that they have less power actually works in their favor on back roads. You've already got the exhaust and the short throw, so I would say some springs, a true CAI (not a short ram) and stickier tires should make for a hell of a fun DD, and you can just take the springs back out when you turn it in. Just my two cents.
http://www.rs25.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5 That's where you want to find your information for na power. But honestly, just get an exhaust to make it sound nice and then work on making it handle. Get some Megan coilovers on there and you'll be smiling from ear to ear. They may be a bit harsh but with them being an all-in-one unit it will be easier to swap them out again in the future.
+1 for sways. Better wheels, lighter and wider if you can so you can fit some better stickier tires. And because you are leasing it, you really don't want to thiunk about power mods other than the exhaust you already have lined up. Anything more for power will require mods that will probably void drivetrain warranty and I'm sure that kind of thing won't be good when the lease is up. Oh yeah, and take it to an AutoX where the turbo'd cars don't hold a huge advantage over you.
