Is $130 shipped for 04' STI springs and all 4 top mounts a good price? I need to lower my 03' but don't want to spend a bundle if you know what I mean.
would have been a great price $.99 if the auction hadn't cancelled. Somebody help me out though, is that a decent price for springs and top hats all around?
i think that the 0.99 was the error :ugh: anyway, 130 is a decent price. But honestly, I'd drop the extra money and just get new springs. You'll get a better rate than with stock STi springs and a more aggressive drop. Espelirs have fallen to abour 190 shipped last I saw and tein's aren't too expensive either. try www.worldoneperformance.com for great prices shipped on springs. You'll like the lowering more than stock STi and won't spend much more. just my 0.02
i saw these yesterday...and am still confused as to why these are so cheap?...more than one site had this price too...someone fill me in to what i'm missing.. http://www.morepowerracing.com/prod...&PT_ID=2343&P_ID=2935&btnProduct=More+Details
I got the $.99 joke by the way I'm not concerned so much about the springs, I'm more interested in the top hats and if the springs come along then that is a bonus. My problem is I mostly have no idea about suspension and what I should be looking for as far as price, but I do notice prices of just front tops and since this set included springs and 4 tops for $95+ shipping I thought it might be a good deal. I really don't want to get invasive on my suspension with just lowering springs; so what I'm saving for is the new Whitelines, which Subie gal seems to like a lot.
It depends on what you consider "better" spring rates. The STi springs and Sti Pinks are essentially the same spring rates and the Pinks are widely regarded as the best springs. The big difference between the pinks and Stock STi's is the drop you get with the Pinks as opposed to the stock ones..
Scott, those are coilover springs. I don't know that they will necessarily mate to stock struts and I can't find anywhere that says whether you need coilovers to use them. My guess is that they are replacement springs for Tein/JIC/Cosco/etc... not sure though. Russ, as far as the tophats go, you don't need 04 hats unless you're running 04 springs. I still think you're best off using some 02/03 springs which you can get for a similar price (~130, ebay has a lot) without trying to run different tophats. Which whitelines are you talking about? The Flat Out springs or saving up for full coilovers?? Belvn is right about "better" being subjective, and if you're looking for drop not spring rate, don't go with stock STi springs. I think you'll be disappointed that you don't get the drop you want but have a much harsher ride on stock struts.
HEY, now that's the answer I was looking for! Thanks....I actually learned something :bigthumb: SkullWRX: the Whitelines I was referring to are the Group 4 coilovers- seems like they will fit what I want out of a suspension. I've read a lot about the different full suspensions and this one doesn't seem as harsh for everyday driving. http://www.subiegal.com/images/car stuff/rs/tuning/impreza_whitelinecoilover.htm
I feel like a total newb when it comes to suspensions on these Subarus, but I could tell you anything you need to know about jeeps. please bare with me...
hehe, everyone's a newbie at some point or another and even when we get to know something there's still a lot more we don't know. never a dumb question =)
so if someone was just looking for lowering springs....which is better?..TeinS, Eibach, or skunk2?...those seem to be the most popular on ebay
well, i just accidentally erased my whole post so here's the short version: Springs are like exhausts, it's all personal taste. Look at the rates and drops and decide from those, then check warranties and pricing. STi pink is the industry standard and Whiteline/Eibach/SPT/S-Tech/Crucial are all pink rate with varying drop. Some are pregressive some are linear. H-techs and RS*R are slightly lower rates than pink, and Espelir is slightly more. All of these companies make great springs and your personaly choice of drops and comfort is what you should use. (FYI crucial's site is down for reconstruction, should be up soon. These are new springs to the market and there's a nasioc post on them) For full listings try this: http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/spring/spring.html from Ravensblade Some springs aren't here but you can easily find them with moderate googling.
cool thanks man...i guess i'll also take some notes at the next install day and decide whether or not i want to try to install myself or pay someone do it for me...
lots of people have done springs. you should do them yourself and save the $300 in labor. It's really not a bad install
i think they're similar to the GC lowering springs, but are basically aftermarket springs for coilovers...
yea installation is not as bad as one might think..Skull is right..there are plenty of people on here that have done springs themselves and im sure any of us would be glad to lend a hand
