I fed nails a Valvoline Duratech blend. I was leery of going full synth after running regular oil for 50k, so I'm going to run blend & see if any problems arise before switching to full synth... Haven't noticed an operating difference so far... Sunday I'm getting the up-pipe in.
i had purchased my last car used with 38k on it a 98 civic i ran regular castrol gtx until 98k i then switched directly to castrol syntec and never had any problems. now my brother is driving the car with 141k and still no problems. also just something you might want to do.. before i switched i dumped a quart of synthetic oil in the motor with the drain plug still off and just let the oil ran straight through the motor to clean up anything. i always do this about every 30k i don't know if it helps or not but it makes me happy. i'm running castrol syntec blend on my suby ever since 4k after i broke the motor in with the stock oil at 2500k i drained it and added gtx and at 4k i've ran only syntec blend since and i still change it every 3k.
what is that, like a passive engine flush? ;p I'm not going to stick to one brand of synthetic or anything... i'm just sharing what i'm doing in case anyone finds it useful. ... have i seen you around town?
possibly i live in port victoria about a 1/4 mile away from lake alatoona off bells ferry. i used to have silver rota torques but now i have bronze slipstreams. i was also at nopi last year but i was on stock wheels.
nope, i guess not. I'm off East Cherokee, but i rarely stop by bells ferry when I go down the freeway...
...i do notice a difference of increased smoothness after 3200rpm, nothing extreme. nothing else immediately evident, no leaks. I'll check for consumption in a couple weeks. ...got the up pipe in on sunday too.
