I went up to Tenn. today and going throught the mountains was Amazingly FUN!! @ about 60-70mph and up. me and two trucks a chevy avalanche and a one ton. It was funny cause they kept lookin in the rearview expecting me to be gone evertime we went around a curve...my car had very little body roll and I never skidded and the tires gripped like a champ! though it did make me nervous when I saw icecicles on the side of the mtn. I love my suby!

Oh and before I got to the mountains there was this 06 civic (the sedan so does it count?) he tried  and then there was an evo viii now it might be just me but the fact that he did not catch up with me speaks volumes (driver error?). but then we switched he was in front and I kept up just fine. I have a wrx wagon so I don't understand I thought for sure he supposed to eat me up me. Mabe he was just toying with me?? but he had his girlfriend in the car! whatever, it was still fun. Before then it was a boring ride with the cruise control.

as sad as it is to say the evo has the wrx in the corners. They are very well made cars the suspension is a lot more "aggressive".

I'd vote for driver inexperience (not necessarily error). Sounds like you had a blast, I'd love to go up to the mountins sometime soon (hint hint Keith).

Sounds like fun. Be on the lookout for a stock sedan swaybar for sale. The wagons have a 20mm/17mm from the factory but the sedans have a 20mm rear sway bar that bolts right up. It is a very noticeable and positive difference.

You can normally get them for cheap or free, just something to keep an eye out for.

I just waited around until I found a free one.

lets throw something together. I've gotta get the 67 Fury running sometime over the break but other than that I'm free until school starts.

Well I found out I'm not that great comming down hill. started off pretty good but when I tried to downshift into 4th I started to smell the clutch ??? so i just put in netural just tapping the brakes peridocally. I think with the antilock I might have overdid a curb all that was caused by an idiot in a neon jumps in front of me at about 65mph:eek:hnoes: couldn't get over cause of traffic. I was trailing a 05 vette but he got squrilery on me so I had to go around. he passes me about 15 min after I'm of the mtn.

At first I was trying to slow down by downshifting and braking. I never had that clutch smell happen before but then again I wasn't in a awd. but does that make a difference?

Up in the mountains around helen I just kept it in 2nd or 3rd, no burnt clutch smell at all. I didnt have ABS at the time so I didnt want to push the car too hard.

Going down a hill you're better off keeping the car in gear to keep from overheating your brakes. You'll even get better mileage than leaving the car in neutral and idling the motor.

Just saw that a bunch of NASIOC folks are running The Dragon Jan 6-8.
