Went to Classic so King could throw some Rotella in the BuGi and give it a once over, especially after all the recent mods. While I was waiting I test drove a 08 Sedan. Hmmmmmmmmmmm very interesting indeed. No turbo lag. All refined, very smooth power all the way through. Lighter clutch, better steering ratio and pretty decent handling. Gone are the days of the neck snapping turbo lag. Everything was ultra smooth. Cabin was very polished, very little road noise. The five speed on this car was "like butta", granted I drive the bug eye so maybe this is something they improved a few years ago. The 2.5 was ready to go, it pulled well. Overall I give it thumbs up. I could see some real potential with exhaust and turbo upgrade. Allot better than expected. Not getting rid of the buGi anytime soon as I made clear to the sales guy. King gave it a test drive and seemed to like the new turbo. At least he was grinning like he did!
My fraternity brother drove my car and thought it was a big six cylinder. When I told them it was a turbo four they flat didn't believe me until I popped the hood. It has no lag, yes, but it could use a little more up top. Otherwise it's SOOO easy to drive.
True although now thanks to the big16g and Scott Seigel, boost kicks in about the same as the 08 just allot more of it HA:naughty: I think the biggest difference between the 2.0 and 2.5 is torque out of boost between idle and 3grand. Honestly I expected allot worse and there is still potential in these cars although more legacy like. Damn that five speed was smooth.
As of 06 they made drastic upgrades to the transmissions and that extra 500 CC's does do absolute wonders somehow. Everything I've read says the steering was upgraded then too, to 2.5 turns lock to lock. Just a lttle shy of the Evo's "go cart steering" of 2 turns side to side (correct me if I'm wrong tho, it's been years since I read that). It really is like the 2.5 and TD04 were meant for each other where torque is concerned. High end power, not so much, but who needs that anyway? Torque is really where it's at if you ask me.
