2003 stock WRX (till now) I ordered the following and installed it myself: ground control complete units, single adjustable, ground control camber plates front and rear (got group-n top hats rear and they didnt work/fit so ordered the rear plates), new aluminum sti control arms, TIC fender braces, whiteline performance (between race and comfort) ALK, whiteline plus bushings replaced all bushings except rear lower control arm (didnt want to tear down the knuckle in the rear, used a 3 piece unit here. basically i rebuilt/replaced my entire suspension except for the swaybars which are still stock. goals were improved street performance, and near stock ride height. when i was done, took it to SOK, and asked for steve and went over my goals and what i needed checked (purposely left most bolts 'tight' but not fully torqued down). very pleased with the service and setup too.
glad to hear you are liking the set up. i have to say, this car handles great when all was said and done. car was completely flat and even in turns, steering response amazing, even at just a tad bit lower than stock the car just handles amazing. made me think twice about how i have my car set up. hope to see you around man, going to be fun seeing what you do next.
i had a similar setup on a crx which was my toy car for a while and i loved what it did to that car. gc+koni is a good setup in my opinion. there are better, perhaps ohlins but that gets a good deal more expensive. btw i forgot, i also replaced the steering rack bushings with whiteline units. next up is up/down+cobb access port. leaning towards APS 3 inch turbo back though i know cobb is a good product. heard that APS is a tad bit quieter, for extra money you buy the high flow cat but you can bolt it in and out.. and of course you gets the aps name.. i have ordered the access port from topspeed. when i get it im gonna run it for a while, see if i can use it as a live interface for a laptop live display. then im gonna order and install the pipes and take it to ts for a pro-tune. dunno where this will end up. i would like a built motor with the ability to run e85 and 93 octane (actually what id REALLY like is to have the thing be fully flex fuel capable..). we'll see. btw.. if you are considering doing this you will find that removing the lateral arms and control arms in the rear is a real pain. i have a friend works in a hardware store that has all kinds of equipment.. so i got a 6 point 17 mm box end wrench from sears at town center and then had him cut the open end off and grind it smooth using his equipment. once this was done i could put a long breaker bar on it and get those bolts loose. and they where real tight .. and my car lives in garage and rarely ventures out in bad weather so i cant imagine how hard it would be for a car that would be more weather beaten...
"Jacking thread" I have to also give a big thank you to WRXKING for an amazingly attentive job done on my 92! Not only does my car look clean but it also runs like stink. You rock Steve. Thanks for looking out and hookn it up for an oldskooler.
