after a mindblowing amount of research (even though i should be working on my project for finals), it seems pretty clear that the falken has the edge on grip and steering feel from its stiff sidewalls. But personally, (being the korean that i am), i just keep searching and searching for the result somewhere in the internet that would say that the rs2 is just as good, if not a better tire for daily drive cars. it seems like the hankook can be fitted with a wider and shorter tire on our stock rims (which i think would give it an edge against the falken, especially along with a better grip in the wet), but the falkens, despite the advertised size, are just as wide as the kooks with stiffer sidewalls. falken: wider than adverstised, stiff sidewalls, awesome grip. hankook: wider and shorter (225/45/16), good wet traction, just as good as rt615 in dry, and cheaper. if the rt615 isnt horrible in the wet, my vote goes to the falken (plus, who drives fast on wet surface.. i`m assuming that the falken is only a little bit worse in the rain, but not to a point where it will hydroplane really badly-unless anyone has experienced this). So, if you were to just dd your car, no auto-x or any track racing but a few spirited runs and couple of sharp turns here and there, which one gets your vote? is it the wider and shorter tire, or a little bit taller but stiffer-sidewall tire? it seems like the noise level/comfort is around the same, hankook being a little bit better. some people on nasioc say that the hankook is a better choice if you have suspension mods and you're putting out good camber number, but if you are on stock setting, the falkens will be a better set-up... man, after writing down some of my thoughts, i`m even more confused..since i`ll be getting the prodrives soon, i guess that means the hankook would be a better choice because i`ll most likely get my car dialed in for more agressive alignment? you cant split them on looks either.. they both have crazy tread patterns.
BTW, you do not need large negative camber numbers to make the Z212 hook up, you need the correct *EVERYTHING*....caster, camber, roll stiffness, bound, rebound, and most importantly, TIRE PRESSURE. I've seen people destroy a tire FAST with inappropriate tire pressures....if they had just ran the correct pressures, they would have been faster and not toasted any tires.
