So I had something weird happen today, I had the AC belt idler pulley actually come apart and just disentigrate! It took the belt with it of course and cut a nice gouge into my timing belt cover. I repaired the timing belt cover with some JB weld and picked up a new pulley at the local Napa. If anyone ever has this problem in the future, Napa and Subaru are the only two places that I found that had these or could even get them. So moral of the story, if you hear some weird squeeking noise coming from the front of the engine, you spray the pulley with WD-40 and it goes away, replace the pulley. It is as easy as 3 bolts to replace and could save you the time and hassle of dealing with the aftermath of the explosion.

Nah, it was just the pulley to the AC belt, so no big deal, but the fact that it ate into the timing belt cover had me worried so I repaired it immediately.

Just trying to add a little hype to the situation, but that's good info that it 's available from Napa. I have to get just about everything for the subes I work on from a dealer or Baker imports. Chuckostar needed an upper radiator hose a couple of weeks ago and NOBODY had it but dealers!!!
