Lol, nice find. I like how they compared the hid to the halogen just so you can tell how much glare it really puts out.

HID kits are awesome if you have projectors... if you just modify the H1/H4 bulb socket to fit a D2S bulb for non-projectors (IE civic), and give you a hella cheap HID setup that is kick ass for the driver, but blinds all oncoming traffic.

Maybe its just 10th Street propaganda :naughty:

    Purpose of propagandism
The aim of propagandism is to influence people's opinions or behaviors actively, rather than merely to communicate the facts about something. For example, propaganda might be used to gather either support or disapproval of a certain position, rather than to simply present the position, or to try to convince people to buy something, rather than to simply let them know there is some thing on the market.

no HIDs for the legacy..because I know when I see HIDs in the review now...I always say "oo this may be fun"...as I'm sure thats the whole policeman's look out on it now as well..so stock bulbs I shall ride..don't get me wrong..i love the look of hids....but just not what I'm wanting to do anytime soon.

    I am confused...

how many people on this board work for 10th St. JDM? Alex, I assume...blindfold too? Who posts under the 10th St. JDM handle?

    Just curious.

Also, since we've cleared up that universal hid kits suck in headlights not designed for HID, how much will it cost me (total) to have 10th st. put s2k hids in my car? (bulbs, ballasts, harnesses, labor, etc.) ?

10th Street JDM is one person, myself :) Any other posts you see are either jokes (blindfold) or various images from LightWerkz, etc.

Schnied, I sent you a PM about your lights.

FkU, w/ a quality retrofit very few can actually tell that your lights have been reworked. HID kits are a dead giveaway, you are correct.

Yeah HID,s behind the right projector lens at the right position are fine, but those nuts that put them in front of standard halogen reflectors blinding oncoming traffic make others wanna whip a tire tool out and "modify" their setups.

    Me too,

The beam pattern is a little low at the highest setting.

How about a group buy on off road lamps!!

    (talk about hammer magnets)

You could always adjust them, but I wouldnt recommend that :)

What 10th Street sells is simple: OEM ballasts, OEM Projectors, OEM Bulbs (D2S), Complete Custom Plug-n-Play Harnesses. 10th Street does not offer HID kits or any other rebased type product. Now, if you own an HID kit and are looking for a retrofit you could reuse your HID kit ballasts and wiring harness with a bulb adapter for a D2S bulb.

D2R is a high intensity discharge bulb for reflector based housings (eg 2004-2005 STi)
D2S is a high intensity discharge bulb for projector based housings (eg 2006+ STI)

Why are projectors just so damn cool? Even with the factory HID lighting on the 2004-5 STi, the light is still being reflected back into the reflector housing before being thrown forward. With a projector the light is actually being thrown outward and intensified / focused via a lens (like if you were to hold a magifying glass outside and focus some of the sunlight on one point).

Ill write up a sizeable FAQ for everyone, if you have any questions please let 10th Street know!

Its fairly straightforward to aim your lamps further up -- if you feel like they are off (maybe you lowered your car, etc) you can use my guide to help realign them.

So does anyone know if the projector housing on 06-07 headlight assemblies are the same for STi (HID) and wrx/i (non-HID) headlights? They are both projectors, so its possible that they come from the same assembly line.

The projector is quite possibly different, at the very least the bulb holder is different :) But that doesnt matter, we can scrap the stockers and throw some TSX in there!

They all come off the same assembly line, take the 04-05 sti and wrx lamps. The actual housings (not reflector housings) are basically the same inside and outside except that the HID housing has a small peg inside to guide the igniter wiring and a hole in the bottom to allow the igniter wiring to pass from the ballast through the lamp to the back of the bulb. The high-beam portion of the reflector housing (chrome shiny piece) I'm sure is identical, however the low beam portion is different. It will be designed for halogen OR xenon, end of story. There is no mixing the two (hence this thread, the video and the rest of the comments -- HID kits are a no no).
