hi all.. i bougth a 95 impreza l awd coupe back in october and have been lurkin on here lookin for deals to get the car in shape. i got the car because my dd is a two seater so i wanted to get somethin w/ a backseat to shut up my family. i dont know if it was initial d or what but i have always wanted the ver 6 sti. reading the mags and seeing the success that has been had w/ the gc8 chassis in the time attack arena really influenced. its light, its awd, there is a huge amount of options to upgrade, whats not to love?

my original intentions were to do a new gen wrx swap into it but i lost my job shortly after so i dont see that happenin anytime soon. in the meantime i have been focusin on the gruesome exterior(converting to the ver6 jdm sti exterior) and gettin all the kinks out. i am usually speed before looks but the car is so ugly in its present state i cant get beyond its exterior. not to mention the exterior is much cheaper to do what i want w/ it than buyin a wrecked sti or wrx shell to get the performance where i want it.

i got extreme shifter wobble that i will be addressin shortly, also the heater doesnt work. i looked into the disgustingly corroded engine bay and found a hose extending from the firewall thats open and not plugged into anything. i am assuming thats supposed to go to the heater but i cant find anything to connect it to in the vacinity...?

so far i replaced an o2 sensor which was disconnected causing the car to run extremely rich. and had a large hole in the exhaust welded close. top on my list at this point is to get some brakes that actually stop the car instead of just making suggestions to it, (i know its old but rear drums.... come on!!!)as well as mentioned above get rid of the shifter wobble. any suggestions or ideas would be great..

Okay now that I've had a chance to read the post. :)

www.turninconcepts.com for your shifter wobble issues. All the bushings need to be replaced. That should help with the sloppy shifter.

Can you get any pictures of the hose that doesn't go anywhere?

for the brakes, check out either a local junk yard, or car-part.com. Junk yard will more than likely be cheaper, but you never know. I had a set of front RS calipers, but tossed them a year or so ago...

wow the turning concepts unit looks alot beefier than the subaru replacement part i was gonna by to fix the wobble. but it is 35$ more expensive. any expereince w/ it to justify that verses the stock upgrade? thanks for the info by the way.

looks the rs and legacy brakes are identical so that helps.

here is the pic of the hose thats open.[IMG]

just to put the photo in perspective in zoomed in on the drivers side of the engine. the firewall as at the top of the pic and the front of the car is toward the bottom of the pic

turn in concepts is WAY beefier and worth the extra money.

i am online now trying to narrow down a shopping list for a total rs or legacy brake conversion. its seems like a junkyard will be my best bet as its hard to find someone selling the whole rear brake assembly from the knuckle outward. pullapart seems to get legacys in their yards every now and then.
