Any way to tell if the timing belt has been changed? I bought the car after the time it was supposed to be changed (65k miles) but not sure if it was done...I remember the guy mentioning that it had the plugs changed, but don't remember anything about the timing belt. Any ideas?
There is no real way to tell if it has been changed. Consult your owners manual about determining if it needs to be changed. Its pretty easy. You just hang a weight from the belt at a certain point and then measure the sag. If the sage exceeds a certain length, then change it.
you don't need to change your timing belt till 90-100k. so i wouldn't worry till then. and even if for some strange reason it's been changed, doing it again w/ your water pump @ 100k wouldn't hurt.
