I'm looking into getting some 225/50/16 tires soon.

I'm looking at the Falken Azenis ST115, BFG G-Force Sports, Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S, and Toyo Proxes 4.

Basically just a high performance tire with decent treadwear (over 300) and a price under $100 a tire.

Does anybody have any experience with these tires?

You should throw the Yokohama AVS ES 100's in the mix too! Also, The Khumo 212's are decent tires for that price. I have had both and been very pleased with tread wear and performance of both....

Bobby, just purchased some G-force sports and I love'em. Very sticky, stiffer sidewall, quiet ride and overall a better tire than the Kuhmo's they replaced... Gott'em from Gran Turismo since I needed an alignment anyway, so you could prolly get them cheaper from discount tire or somewhere like that. I was interested in the proxes 4 as well, but the guy at GT stated they wear way to fast.... He said the g-forces were the best for that price range. The only tires that were better were the Michelen PS2's and there way more $$$.... just my .02

I have some worn out st-115's on stock rims if you want to try them out. they were pretty good to me, 20k on them, very quiet, decent stick, good rain grip and the price is right

I had the Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S on my car when i bought it. Loved em. Would have got them again but my buget was too tight. They have excellent grip and they are rated really well for winter too. They are also excellent in the rain. Don't know much about their tread wear, but I liked them. Still have the two rear tires with some decent tread on them.

Kevin got some new tires, I forget which type but he's loving them and they were reasonably priced apparently. I believe he was told "Pilot Sports without the Michelin badging". I know that they're goodyear tires.

the tire question falken all the way i run them in STX love them very sticky, but use falken as race tires. I have 18s on my wagon wish I had 19s I think they look good on the wagons not the sedans though. Just my opion.

yeah maybe can get away with 19's on a wagon....i can't see it on a sedan...plus they gotta be way heavier than stock.....as for tires i'm running coopers and i like them for my applications...not as hard-core as some people ;)

There is a good article this month. I believe in Road and Track testing a variety of high perfomance tires. Id give it a read, its not a bad article.

yeah. 225s will fit on a 6.5" wheel. There will be a bit more sidewall flex and I've heard it will make the turn-in feel a little looser. I want the wider tires for the performance as well as the aesthetics (205s just look wimpy IMO).

On the topic of 19s and wagons: It will probably rub. The rears on the wagons tend to rub if you are lowered and running 225s or larger. There are exceptions with funny offset wheels or very stiff springs (or not lowered that much). You can roll the rear fenders and get a little bit more width without rubbing.

My opinion is save the 19s for the trucks and SUVs, 18s look plenty big on these cars.

yeah i'm running 18's and i've raised my front a little bc of the rubbing. IMO the 18's look the best on the wagons anyway.

If you don't need the all-season capability, there's no reason to get it. Falken RT-615's and Kumho Ecsta MX are probably the cheapest of the sticky stuff. The ES-100's are probably a touch more money, a touch less grip, but longer loved and quieter with better wet grip. Toyo T1-R is more money, but better, except in the long-lived dept.

I know I'm leaving some out, but here's a little input.

    My experiences so far:

G-force KDW – awesome dry, wet, everything – expect under 10K life however.

ES100 – very good dry and wet for the first 10K then seem to lose grip. Expect 20K life.

G-force KDWS – almost as good as the KDW’s – expect about 19K life.

I’m in the market for tires again. Not sure what I will try this time. Probably another set of the KDWS’s if I can get a decent price.

Yes.. A set a year. I figure it to be about $45 a month in tire wear. Fun but getting expensive.
