I just bought my 05 STI a couple weeks ago. The tires are bald, I knew I would be buying new ones within a few weeks. I'm looking at ADVAN Neova AD08. I also am looking for other options such as good performing with better tread life. Any thoughts?

I've had just about every high end street tire you could imagine on my car. The AD08 is without question the best track \ daily tire on the market. It does however wear faster than some tires, but anytire that makes that much grip is going to wear fast.
I have the Michelin PSS on my car right now and they wear much better than anything else I've ever had and the grip level is close to the AD08.

Personally I think you can't go wrong either way.

funny you should say that. I was just looking at the PSS's I might go with those

If the car is a daily, Pilot Super Sport. More track and auto-x only type car, i would be leaning towards the ad08's.

The PSS is the tire I have been leaning towards for my next set of tires.

you guys think I should go with the 225/45/17's on the stock bbs's or go slightly bigger?

I talked to Brandon over at allpro about an alignment after I get the tires tomorrow, answered my question about tire size. I ordered 235's in the PSS

I personally would not have gone large then 225's on a stock 7.5" wheel. You spend more money on a heavier, less responsive tire that quite frankly im of the opinion is a slower set up.

But no worries, not the end of the world and alittle ballooning of the tire will make ride alittle nicer.

    Rev. E (2005)
As with the Japanese-spec C models, US-spec STis received additional rear fender flaring in order to allow an increase in wheel size. The wheel size went from 17" x 7.5" to 17" x 8".

Your rims are 17x8. I got an '05 model also and I'm currently running 245/45 on stock BBS. My next set will be bridgestone re760 sports in 245/45/17. These tires will make you satisfied for the $$$. Not a high mileage tire, but not super expensive either

ya, I was told I could go up to a 245 on the stock 17x8 BBS's but there would be a slight chance of rubbing. I went with the 235 PSS. They are on the car now, drives very well btw :) I'm going to get an alignment at AllPro Tuesday morning. The car is driving very straight. I doubt they will need to adjust much at all but I'd rather get it done and have the tires wear better.

In case anyone in looking at tires. The PSS's I put on the car are amazing! Texsun, Ewokatoo, and myself went on a mountain run yesterday, those tires performed better then I could have expected. They are very sticky (ask Texsun about the road gravel being thrown behind me LOL.) The tires didn't even squeal once, they just stayed planted and did their job.

Dunlop Durrezi are a pretty decent tire. I use my STI for both the street and the track and its a pretty decent tire for both. I was just at TGPR on MLK Day and they ran pretty good even in the cold temperatures. They are also not too expensive, I think I spent around $900 and also got a $100 rebate.

The stock dunlops on my '11 were pretty good too. Between a few track days, daily driving and several autocrosses they lasted 9,000 miles - which considering the use I think is pretty good.

Has anybody used the hankook rs3's? I may need tires very soon and I like grip, but the car doesn't get driven too aggressively and I would rather not be replacing them in 10k miles.

I`ve had the RS2s and i ran them for 20k miles no problem... although it looks like the RS3s are rated with a lower tread life now (it used to be 200). they are a bit heat sensitive but wore pretty nicely. i would probably be going back to it as it's easier on your wallet than most of the high spec tires also.

oh and this tire made me do stuuuupid things and get away with it like nothing happened... kind of scary really. superb steering feel also. not the best in the wet.

The only thing I don't like about the PSS is that turn in is very soft. Other than that its been a great tire

soft for the category side wall? does it ride nicer then the other category tires?

I went with PS2's this time around(have friend of a friend who works in the michelin plant, got a set of 4 shipped to my door for $450, but you have to time things right).

I have been extremely happy with the PSS's so far. The turn in is much better than the Hankook V12's I had previously.

Agree with you! I went on the Atlanta motor speedway last summer with these tires and they hold really really well.

I think most reviews on tire rack said the rs3 lasts about 10k, but for some reason I would believe you guys more than them lol. So what's a good 20-25k mile tire with good grip that won't break the bank?
