My front RE92s are beginning to show some wear. There's still a lot of tread left, but around the edges the tread is beginning to wear. I'm at around 15000 miles (I know, already). Anyway, they're obviously not as worn as the rears, and I'm about to rotate my tires with my next service (soon). Is this bad for my center diff? I know that changing tire diameter side to side is very bad in these cars, but will rotating the fronts, which are probably slightly smaller diameter due to wear, to the rear and vice-versa cause me to pay for a new diff down the road? Any help is appreciated. Thanks! PS. From now on I know to rotate every other oil change with my next set of tires.
Do that. You need to check the tread depth on the fronts and backs. if there is a difference GREATER than 2/32 front to rear...start to worry. if it is AT 2/32 difference...rotate the tires, and leave them like that for the next 10k miles....then rotate them every other oil change and it'll be fine.
