I have made my mind up. I am going with the Kumho ASX tires for the simple fact I want tire life more than anything. With a 400 treadlife these should last at 'least' 40K with spirited driving. Now the question. Should I stick with the 225 tires or should I go up to 235? I have 17x7 Rota Tarmac II's and the 225 Federals sit flush with the rim. Figured the 235 would bulge bad but I dunno. Anyone have 235's on 17x7 rims?
It would be a no brainer with the 7.5 width tires. I just want to make sure that the 235 will fit and that they will look good and not overly bulgy. In otherwords a little bulge ie beefy look is fine just don't want it to look like they are gonna pop off the rim. That's another thing if I get the 235 will they be more prone to come off under a tight corner? I'm thinking no with the lip the Rota's have.
Uh what was I thinking. According to SubyDude my rims are 17x7.5's not 17x7's. I think I'm going with 235's. They are only $4 more a tire. You guys think I will be happy with the Kumho ASX's?
just curious. 235 40 17 or 235 45 17? 40' s are shorter than 225 45 and 45's are taller, there is no equal to the 225 45 in the 235.
I have Fusion ZRi's in a 245,40,17 on the Rota Tarmac II's which are 17x7.5's and I'm lowered like 3 inches in the front and around 2 in the rear and have never had any issues with the coilovers or fenders. They look really mean too!
Kumho makes great afordable tires, I run the AST year round which the summer version of the ASX. The AST is 400 trade ware with light snow and mud duties. Good luck!
It won't mess your alignment up, but it will kill your mpg. Thats a lot of extra straight line drag. Are you running lots of negative camber up front? Is that why you are needing a new set of tires? Just curious.
No I am running like 1.3 camber. My old tires got eat all up from the 2 days I drove with horrible toe. Also they have like 30K miles on them.
