I need to start by thanking Yokohama and Gran Turismo East for making it possible for me to get those wonderful Neovas on less than 24 hours notice. My road to Redline started Wednesday night we realized that the 24 Hours of Lemons car was not going to happen :/ Thursday morning, we decided to see if it was possible for me to run one of our customer’s STi’s in the Redline Time Attack in the street class. He was going to run it on his R1’s in the Modified class, and I was going to run the Neovas in the Street class. It was a fresh motor that we knew would not be ready for full boost until the drive TO NASHVILLE had given it enough miles to change the oil and turn it up. So Saturday morning Ashley and I drove it up to Nashville, running 13 psi max. We got to the track, changed the oil and started to turn it up. We got a few laps in for practice and then I went out on the street to make sure that tune was good. Sunday morning it was over 100 degree ambient temps, and the car did not have enough cooling capacity for full boost… Instead of the 25 or 26psi we wanted, we could make almost a lap at 21, or 3-4 laps at 18… So we practiced on 18 and ran 21 for the competition. Another 60 whp would have been nice on the banking Fortunately that was enough for me to WIN the Street AWD class, and run about six tenths from the overall Street Class win. Being able to run more than 2 laps, maybe a little less weight, and a little more boost would have put us right there. This car is an absolute street car with a full interior and big sound system. The modified class was QUITE a bit more competitive with the Cusco-built Takata STi that is absolutely a gorgeous Unlimited class build, but happens to run in modified… (it ran the second fastest time of the whole event). The car owner and I had a great time, used relatively little tires, brakes and gas, and got to participate in a wonderful event. Thanks to the Redline Time Attack crew for such a well-run, safe, and fun event.
It might be easier to look through them here: http://s14.photobucket.com/albums/a325/TRAYSTi/Mike Manning - Nashville Time Attack/ Siegel
So, if you look down towards the bottom of this link, you will see why SS won Street AWD....he was the only competitor But, he was pretty damn close to picking up first in the Street class (got 2nd overall), and put down a time 3.5 seconds faster than the same car ran on race tires. way to go SS!
^^^ LOL. I didn't even realize there weren't other cars in Street-AWD until I saw the results... Had I realized I was within 6 tenths of the overall Street win I would have tried something cool Not to make excuses, but I only made about 5 flying laps the whole weekend, and we had the boost down at under 21 psi (could have run 26), and we still had all 4 floormats, the owners manual, the sub, and the spare tire in it... It was a fun weekend. If we run Street again, we'll make sure we can win it Siegel
