WEll here goes, this is my first post: I am hosting a track day at TGPR (West of Atlanta) on September 27th. (it will be a non profit day, I will divide all costs amoungst the drivers) It is limited to 10 cars on the track at 1 time (first to pay gets the day) The price for the whole day including lunch is $380 per car (for the whole day) or $190 per car (for a half day) and $17 per spectator, this includes lunch for all. I know it seems like alot, however where most track days cost a couple of hundred, they also have many groupes going onto the track so you have to wait 45 mins to get 15 minutes of track time (per hour) and that only ends up with 1.5 to 2 hours a day driving time max, this event will have the track open for nearly 6.5 hours (if you take the 190 buck option than you will have 3 hrs 15 mins of track time Spectators are allowed to be passengers if they bring the appropriate helmet. The track will be open all day excluding 3 minute stops every 20 minutes to allow people to cross the track to go get gas. This is a non profit event, any money left over at the end of the day will be distributed amoungst the drivers, to assist in gas costs. I am doing this purely so that I may get more track time (and I am paying for my car too) Any one interested in receiving an information pack can contact me anytime I look forward to being a very avtive member of this forum, regards to all Mark@XcessiveSound.com
Its actually incredible value for money in both a $ per mile and $ per lap basis The reason it is higher in cost, is that I do not want to have 3 or 4 groups of cars on the track, normally, people have 4 groups so you get 15 minutes every hour and 45 minutes sat on the side lines waiting to go again. if you remove the first hour for registration, drivers meeting and remove lunch too that gives you 7 hours of track time which is divided up into 3 or 4 smaller groups, that means you spend roughly 1-2 hours on the track for $150 to $200 (that seems to be what others are charging). Now look at this track day . . .6.5 to 7 hours of track time for $380, and if you want you can select a morning group or an afternoon group (still giving 3 hours 15 mins of track time) for $190. and the good news . . .ONLY 10 cars I have 6 cars already and 1 pending payment plus I have one guy who wants the morning and is scouting his friends to find an afternoon driver for the $190 deal. If you want seat time, this really is a great value for money event . . .as I am not charging an costs for setting up the track, the food, the lineworkers etc. I just want a lot more track time, normally I find that as Im getting in the zone and studying specific techniques then I am pulled off the track for the end of the session, this will give me a chance to keep in learning. Sorry if this seems too high for you, if this event goes well I will probably set up another later in the year and may change things to have two groups all day alternating . .but for now with the responce ive had (only been posting the last three days) I think I may be able to pull this off and break even without changing the format. (besides I already paid my deposit to all workers and the track)
I under stand your concern, a couple of other people I have spoke to have had the same one, I can say I have advan ao48s on my exige and I only use these for track days, I usually get about 3700 miles out of them without issue (and for safety I change them early), I have upgraded my breaks so I use roughly 1 set every 4- 5 track days. If your concerned about safety, I do understand maybe this isn't the event for you, Ill keep this forum posted with any changes for future events to help take this into account, and Im sorry that this event does not fit your needs, Ill keep you posted,
If your tires or brakes are going to wear out in 7 hours, take the 3-4 hour option, you'll get tons of track time eat lunch with some other entheusiasts like yourself and it will only cost $190.
