Will a WRX 02 5spd bolt up to a 95 impreza? What is involved in changing from auto to manual what parts needed?
The transmission will bolt up to the engine. You will need a clutch master and slave cylinder, pedal box, shifter and linkages and maybe a different driveshaft. I have been working on swapping my old 5spd into my SVX and it is a pain because the car was never offered with a manual transmission. Swapping a 95 Impreza should be fairly easy.
Thanks for help, I found a 95 impreza for just a few hundred dollars and have an extra tranny. If it were a 2 door I would not even think I would just buy. Still thinking. I wonder what the weight difference is between the 2dr and 4 dr.
The tranny swap will be much easier if you do it at the same time as a WRX motor swap if thats what you're going for. You need to replace a lot of the wiring or splice with what you have. As far as parts: new starter, clutch lines, clutch/brake pedals, master/slave cylinders, ABS pump (if you want ABS), crossmembers, and probably a new driveshaft and rear end. http://legacycentral.org/library/transmission/convert.htm http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=378813&highlight=transmission+swap Those will at least give you an idea of what you're getting yourself into. PM me if you've got anymore detailed questions.
^^^Where did you find that info? That would be great as this project would be straight race car. I guess 4dr would be in a different class than the coupe huh. Still a noob but addicted none the less.
