My friend totalled his S40 and wants another one, but he can't afford an 05. The 00-04 models didn't have the option for a manual transmission. Does anyone have an idea of how much it wold cost to swap a 5spd transmission into an S40? Would it be like 1-2K or like 3-4k?
Costs a good bit more on newer cars because of OBDII stuff. I switched over my entire wiring harness and everything works flawlessly but it is possible to splice stuff up with the old harness. I would not buy a car planning on swapping the transmission unless it's some old Civic POS that you plan on radically fixing up. No use doing it to a newish car.
