So I'm planning on going stage 2... as soon as possible. But I was wanting some information on custom tuning for the 4EAT's, in case anyone out there has some info (or educated opinions) For instance, is it possible? Will it take like twice as long? Is it a good idea (will the results be as reliable as getting a 5MT tuned) As far as I understand it, the manuals are easier because you can go through the gears from very low rpm to redline at full throttle. This is not possible in an automatic because it will shift down on you if you decide to floor it. Before you say it, a tranny swap is out of the question. :hsnono:
takes just as long as mt... mine took ~2.5 hours for a protune.. and my car runs great. It wont hurt the transmission anymore than it would a 5mt
Just be sure to let the transmission cool down after beating on it. And I say here's a temp ban for the first 4EAT hater to come in this thread :hsnono::hsnono:. My old setup would have beat half the cars on this site while keeping my left leg still and using my right hand to please their girlfriend.
The 4eat in stock form sucks. Upgrade the valve body and torque convertor and you will be much better off.
I cant say as much for the valvebody but the TC makes the car into a beast. Nothing puts a smile on your face more than a perfectly consistant 0-60mph launch at 4100rpm squeeling all 4 tires and laying down about 2 feet of rubber before they all hook up. Lemme know if you ever decide to do the swap, like I mentioned on tuesday, I've still got a bunch of misc parts I'll let you get for the cheap.
