In the short time I've been tinkering on my 03, I've realized I do not like the banjo set-ups for the oil feed and coolant lines on the TD04. The oil feed line seems to be a major weakness. I'm going to use AN fittings and make custom steel braided lines tomorrow/ Friday. I'm using a 10mmX1.25 male to -4AN male fitting for the oil feed on the turbo, 12mmX1.5 male to -4AN male fitting for the block, and 12mm to -(X)AN for the coolant lines. The stock TD04 housing has a built in 1mm restriction in the oil feed. My question is regarding the restriction in the oil feed banjo bolt. Will the set-up I'm planning to use (with -4AN oil feed line and stock housing with 1MM restriction) have too much/ too little oil flow and how would it effect overall engine oil pressure? Also, what would be a good size AN for the coolant lines?
Anybody? If I get this worked out, I can get custom braided lines for anybody that wants to ditch the banjos on the cheap (locally)....and ALOT cheaper than the online kits (including braided coolant lines).
stock banjo bolt is the restriction on the stock setup with a TD04 otherwise it will turn into a mosquito fogger
I got to talking with my truck turbo guy (Industrial Injection) about the stock TD04s. The banjo oil feed restriction is redundant. If you remove the bolt and look inside about 8-10mm down, there's a built in 1mm restriction that regulates oil feed rate. That's why I was wanting to use AN fittings and braided lines....?
