The vf39 is giving up, having hardtime spooling, will hit target boost but only after 5000rpm. I gotta say I killed it myself, have been testing the launch control since I don't have to baby the old tranny anymore and it is not good for a turbo to go through all that popping and unburned fuel getting lit in the exhaust. No smoking as of yet. After I get the new tranny in it will need to replace the turbo. What are my options? Is there a bigger bolt on version on the IHI line-up? I would like something ball bearing, I see rebuilding for $ 495, or ball bearing upgrade rebuild for a bout $ 900, are they worth it? I am not after crazy power, under 400 whp and prefer something that will spool relatively quick and is bolt on to the current setup. Currently I have, pink injectors, intake, uppipe, midpide, turboback exhaust(no cats altough I love animals), walbro fuel pump and an accessport. If you got any recommendations that would be greatly appreciated, better yet if you got something for sale.
He has a 2.0L if it's the stock engine. Dom 1.5 would be horrible spool. Blouch 16g XT. http://www.bptstore.com/Subaru-WRXSTi-TD05H-16G-XT-Turbocharger_p_23.html
Yes stock 2.0 and staying that way, also I got a big front mount intercooler too, forgot to mention that. That 16G looks pretty much what I am looking for, I watched some videos and it seems to spool a lot quicker than my vf39, or maybe mine has been dying for a while, who knows.
They spool very well. 300-320 hp on pump gas. Extremely driveable.....18g works very well too but the 16g is more driveable in the lower revs.
The XT models are ball bearing right? I see them on sale, some have XT mentioned, some don't, what is the difference if it is not XT? Also there seems to be some cheap knock offs for sale but I guess they are just junk.
