So as many of you know I have an N/A 2.5RS. I plan on going turbo in a few months. I'm still sorting out all of the details, but I think I have decided on a setup. I will be running an RS turbo kit with a custom exhaust manifold to bolt up to an Evo 16g twinscroll turbo. I will also be switching to an STI shortblock with new cams. I'll be using STI rods with my RS pistons which should give me close to a 9.5 compression or so. Engine management will be handled by a Link+ standalone. I figure this will give me great daily driveability and quick turbo spool and boost all the way up to redline. What do you guys think?
This thing is going to reach peak boost FAST....considering it's made for a 2.0l and will have a MUCH higher compression than an Evo
I just came across some extra money and decided to splurge on a JDM 4.11 tranny. It has a longer first and second gear than the RS tranny and the rest are the same. It uses a wrx style clutch (which is stronger) and bolts right in with my stock rear diff.
thats the tranny i have in my RSti right now, i like it a lot, first gear is insanely fun. can we say spin all 4 in the dry
We gotta get together someday so I can try it out. Everyone tells me what a blast it is and how it makes the car behave completely different.
I've got a 4.44 tranny with similar gear ratios and it's really fun, great pickup around town without needing to downshift. I've never done dry burnouts like Alex #2 but it'll break 1st gear lose in the rain quite easily.
So after talking to a few people the words "turbo housing" came into play....aparrently subaru's use a smaller housing than the evo's do....I was just under the assumption aslong as I had manifolds and up/down pipes to fit everything would work.....all this stuff is really just over my head
you know what they say about assumptions... sounds like its gonna be awesome when you're done though, good luck
