It seems like my suby has been sick lately. Does anyone else ever get stressed about their car? I mean, I need a new clutch pretty soon, seems like my alternator might be dying (getting that checked tomorrow), my brakes have been squeaking a little lately, and I have had some mysterious rattle that I can't seem to find. None of these things are really a big deal or like major defects in the car (brakes and clutch are just wear and tear) but it's just stressing me that I'm seeming to have all these things hit at once. I'm sure most of you have definitely had the same thing happen from time to time. I'm just not feeling it. Also, is everyone else's air conditioner really loud when standing outside of the car? A friend made a comment that my car wasn't sounding good and I'm pretty sure that's what he was talking about.
My civic makes some strange noises, but I think it is related to the water pump going bad. I forgot to change it when I replaced the timing belt... oh well. I have a new one in a box, just haven't gotten around to it yet. As for strange noises, check your engine mounts. My engine mounts are starting to go, and do make some strange noises. My friend had issues with his s2000 making strange rattling and grating noises, but he found that his engine mounts were broken apart, and replacing them made the car feel like new. I recharged my AC, and I think I put too much pressure in it, as when the car is sitting idling, it seems to struggle a bit more when the AC is on, as compared to how it used to be. It is a bit colder now, so I don't complain. Best of luck with your car! -- Brian
YES! my AC makes the car engine bay area very loud and also makes it sound unhealthy. I usually turn the AC off when I am trying to look cool or place a drive-through order. Also, yeah. Those times always come to us car guys. Stick it through and you'll be happy with everything soon enough. I've also noticed how many sacrifices I am willing to make with my car when it comes to performance. There is always a limit on what I am willing to suffer for my car... be it no AC, or squeaks here or there, or even a boost gauge hose that is hanging near my feet... eventually I hit my limit and fix it all at once.
