I know u guys have talked about this but would you recommend gutting(clearing, cleaning) the up pipe like I did my cat on my old car??? what good or what bad will it do??? does it really make a difference???
It'll be about the same as an aftermarket catless uppipe. If you do it, make sure you have EVERYTHING out of it; you don't want to get pieces of cat sucked into the turbo later... And yes, it'll make a difference; the turbo will spool quicker and smoother.
gutting ur uppipe is probably the cheapest mod to get more power... its free ... u will definitely see performance gains... just make sure u take ALL the cat out now compared to performance with aftermarket uppipes, im not sure... the gutted uppipe is narrow at the inlet, wide in the middle and then narrow at the outlet... not sure about all after market uppipes but mine has a fixed diameter... wonder how much that affects flow
i have had mine gutted for a while with no problems at all..i have had 3 different uppipes..i wish i did it to begin with..
I think you guys have talked me into gutting my UP...does anyone want to explain to us how the easiest way to do it is?!?! It could make a good DIY write up too. Will this cause a CEL or emission problems?
thanks for all the comments and help I guess thats what ill do As soon as i get it bk from the shop. And I also have a turbo xs ecu (I belive It is called) is this hard to install? Ive done some work on cars but Ive never messed with ecus or computers or anything electrical so any help or advice will do thanks, oh and are there any more free mods??
which one is it? intake silencer removal... makes it sound a little better... performance gain is little to none... click here
I got an AEM short ram intake in it (just love the sound) so I don't know about the silencer and about the ECU How do I find out wich one it is? I got it from a guy with a gray 02 so its the same year as mine, I hope is the right one
