    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today and part of last night was spend istalling my up pipe and down pipe. I was stoked until the test drive. The turbo spooled up very quickly but was not contributing much to the power of the car. It was fully spooled at like 3.5-4k RMP. Then at about 80mph she through a CEL. Now to mention the tech specs. This is a stromung DVG dp. The up pipe is an STI up pipe.

Yes you are correct to think that the STI up pipe has no egt senson bung and if you new I drive an 02 wrx which wants the egt sensor in and working. I read about the nasioc resisitor fix witch is a 2.2k ohm 1/2 watt resisitor and putting it into the female end of the sensor. I was hoping that this would fix the CEL possibilities but it did not. I will try putting a new resistor in to see if that helps but what about the boost issue? Also if anyone has ROM RAIDER or OPEN ECU and wants to drop by to help diagnose I would be much obliged.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

Have you pulled the code yet? It could be somethin stupid like a cylinder misfire.
    Is that UP gutted?
    What EM are you using?
Not too sure without tuning that you would notice a huge power difference. I most certainly could be wrong here as when I did my UP/DP I also did EM (Ecutek at that time) with a tune by Doug @ TS and of course the power was VERY noticable.
Hopefully someone will verify the CEL fix but it sounds right to me but my EM manages all of that.
Get under her and just double check everything and go get that code pulled and post up. You will definitely get it solved here tho.
    Good luck

    issues

The sti up pipe is strait, no cat. I would tend to agree with the misfire deal but the engine power is there and feels like it does when there is little or no boost. I was not looking to notice major gains but I also was not looking for less performance. The CEL is most likely related to the EGT sensor, but would that cause the loss of power?

No one run open ecu/rom raider that has a spare hour or so?

get the code pulled, that is the best way to find anything out

Where are you located? I might be able to lend a hand pulling the code and such.

Go to Autozone, Advance, Pep Boys and they will pull the code for free. Then post up so we know what it is and can help you further.

its more than likely the rear o2 sensor ... or the egt

    c'mon

What the dillio I know some of you use romraider or open ECU and aint got shiot to do today. Anyone got time for a ridealong to take readings using romraider or open ecu? It would help me out ALOT.

Edit: not trying to be a prick. I just ready my own post and it sounded a little pricky, thanks for anyhelp you guys can provide.

Were you cruising at 80mph for a few miles, or rather were you cruising above 65mph for 5-10 mins? If so you've probably got the P0420 'rear cat inefficiency' CEL. It only triggers when you cruise at highway speeds for a length of time. It shouldnt put the car into limp mode though, so you may have an exhaust leak somewhere.

Does romraider even pull codes? I have never used it for that purpose...autozone will for free and then we will know exactly what is wrong. I don't have a problem logging or seeing what the car is doing at all, but I would really like to know what code it is throwing first.

Weird update, I cleared the code (unplugged the - on the battery for a bit) used the brake a few times, reseated the 2.2kohm resistor and took it for a drive. I did not get a CEL this time and it seemed to be driving fine. I also tightened up some of the clamps around the intercooler. Things are better for now, we will see when I hit the highway tommorow for a bit.

Oh, yeah thanks for all the input guys/gals. I really love the wrx community.

The code is still in your ecu....you should go to Autozone and have them pull it so we know what is wrong with it.

I will echo others. Get the CEL read and we can go from there. A good guess would be the rear O2 sensor if you do not have engine management to take it out. You will need EM or one of the mechanical / electrical fixes to get rid of it.

don't take the O2 sensor OUT!!!

just unplug it maybe. but that would be completely pointless, because without EM it will still throw a code. its not necessarily hurting anything catastrophically other than gas mileage until you try to romp on it. bottom line, GET THE CODE PULLED ASAP!! to make sure that's what it is. then GET EM NOW!

    Cel

I will get the code pulled shortly but as of this morning it still has yet to come back. As for EM/Piggyback, I want COBB AP BAD! but as most other married guys will attest the wife likes to put the kybosh(sp) on more than 1 mod a month. Probably stupid on my part to do the UP/DP before EM/Piggyback. If anyone knows anyone looking for some 16in stokcers with 95% on some toyo proxies let em know, that will expedite the purchase of the EM/piggyback.

I didn't mean take it out, I meant reprogram so that condition did not trigger a CEL.

You will need the mechanical rear O2 sensor trick. It is basically two spark plug anti foulers put together and drilled out. Do a search for it on NASIOC
