Well im almost done and ready to do my vf39 setup. The only part that i haven't received or ordered yet is a UP. I was reading allot about EWG setups, and i didn't get a good idea if EWG would be good on vf39? I read that on smaller turbos that the EWG will open allot, and would annoy the shit out of you. But i really don't care about that sound, all i care if the EWG will perform well on the VF39, and what would i lose if i don't run the EWG?

    Cliffs:

What are Advantages and Disadvantages of running EWG on vf39?

    Any suggestion, comments are welcome.

vf39s are notorious for cracks and internal wastegates that don't seal properly, so that may be a good option, especially if you plan on going with a bigger turbo eventually. But I have no experience with a setup like that, so I'm just guessing ha.

I'm sure someone else could enlighten you better

I'm the last person to take advice from b/c I'm still learning myself, but from what I've read and been told it's never a bad idea for an EWG. It helps to control boost a lot better than an internal setup. I think it works better for larger turbos, but even a smaller one would benefit (if only slightly, I think) if tuned correctly.

fyi, I'm about to go EWG, but I'm also upgrading my stock VF43

I read similar stuff you just stated, but i would like some advice from TS,or tech..or some of his buddies that know about everything and anything about subarus and whats good and bad about them.

    advantages? Power and more power

disadvantages? lighter wallent and more noise at full-throttle, usually if you do not hit your target boost, the gate should not open

for example this is VF39 with methanol and 44mm EWG kit, probably not much power left on the table with race gas

I am not saying everyone can do this, especially with that super expensive Aquamist HFS-5 methanol kit, I would've spent my money on a bigger turbo but just to show what the stock turbo is capable of in kill mode

blindfold: Holy numbers...makes me wanna keep my vf39 lol.

You don't have a wife, or lil kids that you need to worry about(?). GO FOR IT, all benefits, no negative. You won't regret it.

Go ahead and spend the extra$$$ for the EWG setup now. Grimmspeed has their 44MM setup out now. Let me know if you need a hook up on it.

Hopefully I'll know in the next two weeks - trust me, the waiting's infinitely tougher on my end...
