Vibration in steering when turning slow and tight

Just had my tires rotated front to back and since the when doing tight slow turns there is a vibration in the steering kinda like something is rubbing. Tires are new with about 7000 on them. I went ahead and checked the pressure and made them all the same at 34psi. Seemed to help for a while but it is back. I checked the tread depth and all are the same. PS fluid is full. Next check will be to lift it up and check tire circumference on them all. Last service was timing belt and new SS brake lines. They did the tire rotation. Don't think that would have anything to do with it. They suggested checking the PSI. Any other suggestions?

 

rotate the tires back and see if it goes away. did they check balance when rotating?

 

You'll need to check factory tire pressure for the front and rear. They are different. Fronts should be 4psi more than the rear...Well, IIRC.

 

Fronts are now 32 and rears 29. We will see what happens tomorrow.

 

The lugs tight?

 

Sounds like a balancing issue.

 

Lugs are tight. That was my first thought.

Balancing? At speed it is all smooth. When turning into a parking spot is when I feel it. I reset the tire pressure to what the factory says. If it continues I will run it up to where I got the tires to get them rebalanced.

 

My guess is a wheel weight is rubbing..Stick on wheel weights??

 

No, hammer on. So far with the little driving today no vibration when turning into and out of parking spots. It is-or-was felt when turning the steering wheel to those tight turns while moving. I jacked the front up yesterday, fired up the engine and turned the steereing lock to lock and felt nothing.

 

Could it be wheel bearing or axle? Does it only do it with aload on the front wheels?

 

Seems to be only felt in the front. When I had it up on the jack stands I rolled under and everything was in place. No broken CV boots at the wheels. There was one with a small squeeze out of CV grease on the transmission side at the axle at the small opening and the guy working on the car said it was no worry. I spun the front wheels and it all seemed smooth. I think testing in a parking lot may be in order to more isolate the exact conditions...

 

So I talked to Brandon at AllPro and he said it could be the power steering punp going out. The car has 105K miles on it. Anyone had their pump fail?

 

countless along with racks, if the pump is taking a shit make sure to flush the reservoir before installing new pump. Doesn't take much time and effort to do.

 

Yea I am going to take it up to him next friday when I get back in town and he is going to take a look at it. It just sucks that a new pump is over $500.
