Let's say I wanted to change my wagon control arms to sedan control arms, for whatever reason. What other parts would I need to swap out at the same time?
Why not just go all out and do the rear lateral links and axles. You'll also need sedan front struts and a sedan front sway bar. I've been thinking about doing this swap farther down the line.
I just put all sedan 05 sti stuff on an 02 wagon. rear looks like it fits fine with stock 05 wheels with 245/40/17 Advan Neovas. Front...sticks out about 1/4 inch on each side.
Dont need new endlinks or swaybar. Your sti bar and whiteline links should be just fine. Just make sure they are the correct arms you need. Some sti arms don't add castor. (Do Offset bushings and front control arm bushings while it's all apart)
This mod is, hopefully, in the distant future. That is, unless my 27mm swaybar destroys the mounts on my current control arms....
I'd say there are a ton of things to do before these. I"ve got a million suspension mods and this didn't add too much in the way of handling.
Exactly, I just think about it every time I look at my fsb underneath my car. You really should see what I had to do to make it all fit!
If you've got the STI aluminum control arms cant you do the free castor mod to gain a little bit more?
OK, so some recommend swapping out the front axles along with the front control arms, many use the words "recommended but not required" What exactly is the advantage of swapping axles with control arms?
If your axles are old and worn. I don't think they are beefier or anything like that. But you've got an 06 so your axles should be quite good.
Cool I wouldn't mind doing the axle swap, as I really just enjoy taking stuff apart and seeing if it fits back together, but if the money is better spent elsewhere (springs, save up for some coilovers maybe) then I'd rather do that.
