I have recently had a great experience with an individual on here who is a Subaru tuning specialist. He just finished up my car and I am extremely pleased with the results. His screen name on here is h23bb2

What exactly is a "laundry list of mods"? Those cars are super tempermental and frigile without a tune even in stock form :|

Do you know if your going with an OpenSource tune or ProTune, Using Accessport?

TopSpeed has a very affordable Etune for the 2011 STI. It depends on the mods that you have done though

    What do you consider "affordable"?

    I think its around $200.00.

I full custom tune by Doug runs around $400-500. Which is well worth it.

Mine was definitely less than that and he was very thorough and explained everything to me as he was doing it and answered any and every question I had with confidence. He was/is a real pleasure to work with and I would HIGHLY reccomend him. His work is worth much more than he charges.

    You know what....never mind.

    Its just not worth it.

What are you getting so worked up about? Is it not ok for someone to show some support/gratitude to someone that helped them out and performed quality work?

I'm not worked up about it at all.

I just think that comparing prices of some guy that doesn't even have a shop, insurance, etc to a shop that is nationally known for the quality of their tunes is a bit ridiculous.

Since the first turbo subarus have gotten to be so inexpensive I've seen a lot of this type of thing and I don't care for it.

    To each his own.

honestly i was not really trying to compare because i do not have any personal experience with topspeed. i'm sure everyone there does a great job, and i'm sure that in some people's opinion, their work is well worth the money. Like i said, i am not trying to "compare prices" between the two. i am simply just supporting my tuner of choice and trying to provide the person who started the thread, another choice for tuning whether they choose to go with topspeed or pullz-on tuning(or any other tuner)is up to them. i am only trying to help the op make an informed decision. again, i am not trying to put anyone down or take business from anyone.

Topspeed or Forged. Both shops are nationally known. Both shops have numerous records. Both shops have broken records left and right. Both shops have over 2000+ Subarus (not counting other makes) under their belt of experience. I've had tunes from both shops and broke records myself with them all while be reliable as can be.

I've never had any tuning issues with either. While I'm famous for shop hopping bashing whatever you tards wanna bring up, all issues were all related to me myself being either impatient, immature, or constantly modifying/tweaking something that altered the previous tune. There's something to be said about a car that was once the world's fastest EJ205 and traveling 170K miles before it was retired. Anyone that knows me knew I didn't drive my car easy by any means.

So it's your pick. Sure there is others out there with no shop, no insurance, no support on this board as a vendor that may very well be a good tuner. But there are two shops here with insurance, all the knowledge you can ask for, all the experience in the world, and flat out PROVEN results on a range of mild to wild to homemade/handbuilt. You can't ask for more IMHO.

Now to defend some claims about driveability.....I'd venture to say that a majority of issues were either the car was brought to the shop already with issues, someone tweaked something, some ebay special with junk stuff thrown together or a mechanical failure happened. I see it everyday....your junk breaks or something isn't right and it's automatically the tuners fault when in reality it's the nature of the beast. I've seen others take cars to other tuners who in reality just tuned around and 'masked' the real problem instead of fixing it. I'm sure the ones on here who know their stuff will agree with me on that.

I've had my car tuned my pulls-on-tuning and it's been good work. Had great drivability and will be a returning client. Bump +1 for him. I will be returning when I get my next wave of upgrades.

Steve (h23bb2, Pullz-On Tuning) also has tuned my car and was very pleased. If you every change anything on your car, he'll take car of it, willing to even meet you or even come to you. I know he might be considered a newer tuner but from what I've seen from him, he knows his stuff. He's got great prices too.

Not trying to bash any shop, I just don't want to pay a lot plus drive two hours to a shop to get this done.

I have had my car tuned with pullz-on tuning and I have also had my car tuned multiple times at TopSpeed. I was very pleased with the results from Pullz-On and drive-ability was prefect! I couldn't have asked for anything more. TopSpeed also does good work!

For me it is the convenience of meeting up with Steve (h23bb2) either 10 minutes down the road or at my house to get the car tuned as opposed to driving 3 hours up the road to topspeed or forged. I know they are both great tuning houses and I know several people that have good experiences with them.

Also, if everyone went to the big guys, where would their competition be? :)
