This afternoon i was driving to north carolina and i had the cruise set at 80mph, i had to slow down so i pressed in the clutch to disengage cruise control. then i released the clutch pedal and as the clutch re-engaged i heard 4 or 5 clunks beneath the floor in the area beneath the center console. I dont have any time tonight but maybe tomorrow afternoon ill put it on jack stands and check it out. Has anyone experienced anything like this??? my guess would be that its maybe rear transmission mount is loose or broken but i dunno. i dont drive the transmission hard or anything and no drag launches or anything like that, so im not really sure what it could be. could anyone help me out with this????
My brother inlaw had the same problem in his 02 and the said it was a clutch defect and replaced it under warrenty
for real?? was it a recall?? if not it should be under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty, let me know if you know any details?
yea..take it in to sog and have them take a look at it..i never heard about a recal of anytype to the tranny..the only recall ive heard about has been on the cruise control throttle line..just drive it safe until you can get someone to look at it..did u run anything over? debris in the road??
It was not a recall but a somewhat common problem. He started getting a lot of clutch chatter and other noises and when he toke it to the dealership they said they had seen a few of the same things on the 02's. I would ask scott at SOG
Yeah i already had that cruise control recall done, its something with the driveline i think tho. Im in NC so ill prolly take it to the dealer here in charlotte.
not to be a dick but they do have a cancel funtion on the cruse control. up/resume and accelerate, down/ slow and set, towards you/ cancel. so you shouldnt have to push the clutch or brake to disenguage the cruise. this will save from extra ware on the clutch at those speeds. otherwise im sorry to here of your problems. let us no the outcome of your problem. i have an 02 and i would like to know if this happens alot, so i can try to avoid this happening to me.
Re: Re: Weird Noise, HELP!! I know but thats why there is a resume function, when you cancel it you have to reset the speed rather than pressing resume and going right back to the set speed. the point is that there was a loud clunking noise when the clutch engages.
Re: Re: Re: Weird Noise, HELP!! again no need to get mad at me. in my car the resume works fine when i use cancel to stop the cruise.on a road trip i never have to reset the top speed til i get gas and turn the car off. the reason it turns the cruise off when you hit the brake or clutch is all about safty, and is not the propper way to stop the cruise from being on. when pressing the clutch it disenguages the cruise so your car doesnt just rev til redline. when you press the brake it disenguages cause it would be defeting the brake to gas and brake at the same time. my point was that if youve been using the clutch to stop the cruise all these years it will ware on your clutch. i wasnt tring to diagnose the clutch. mearly tring to point out this may have been user error rather a defect on the car like other people mentioned. i know its messed up now but it might have been prevented if you would have used the cruise propperly. :bigthumb:
Re: Re: Re: Re: Weird Noise, HELP!! word, i understand what you were saying, also i figured the cancel function would completely reset cruise and you would have to re-accelerate and then set it. ill have to try that next trip, thanks man!
actually in my car if i push the clutch in and put the car in nuetral and then hit resume my car revs all the way up..i was kinda scared the first time i did it:dunno
