I know they can pro tune now. But last night i was talking to some guys down here and they were wondering if they could tune an M3 and a 03 VW 20th gti. theres also a few other but i dont see them actually making the trip to Atlanta when i go back up there to get my tune. Anyways if they can tune them what do they need to have in order to be tuned.
Most DTM cars cannot really be tuned like a Subaru. Audi, BMW's, VW's have pre-mapped chips released for them from companies such as APR, GIAC, etc. They're generally isnt any way to tune these pre-mapped chips. However, they can easily get the chip and dyno on the awd's, considering the audis have quattro.
I know a local Atlanta guy who does custom tunes (he did my VW). Randy Hall from Upsolute did the tuning. He's done VW's, Audi's, turbo Porches(sp I know, lol), Bentley's, etc. He's out in Powder Springs last I heard. Usually it's just the chip & base map, but it does allow some custom tuning. Nothing as comprehensive as Ecutek though.
Upsolute is not very "popular" in the VW community. Read up on it at http://forums.vwvortex.com. APR, GIAC and Revo all offer VW, Audi and Porsche tuning via the ODBII port. Chips are a thing of the past. I don't think Doug uses these though. Give them a call (click the link in my sig).
