  1. What kind of turbo do you have? Do you like it the way it is, or does it leave you wanting more?

I know we are all on the quest for more power... - but is the turbo performing the way you envisioned it when you first purchased it, or is it not the way you expected it?

Damn, I forgot an option to vote stock... Sorry stock guys (that includes me)

My ported & polished VF34 performs like I expected. Quick spool, smooth, and makes decent power.

Do I want more power? Of course. Don't we all?

However, I am not at this point willing to trade some extra power for potential reliability issues.

You need fp green, fp red, GT30 and GT35 on there too.

vf22 here..Its a good turbo..decent spoolup has a nice kick in the ass when it hits. like moose said I think we all want more but I am happy with it. once I get alky injection I will be a little happier :wiggle:

thats all i got to say

  8. Yeah, I was limited to 10 choices on the poll... Had to make concessions...

Currently I am stock, so I haven't voted... haha

My first turbo will be a VF39.

I'm in the same boat. At this point any of those would be an upgrade but I'm thinking the VF39 might be the easiest to get.

    I'd definitely like more boost.

why a vf39..for just a tad more money you could get a better/bigger turbo

i have an APS SR40 turbo.

i like it, it spools fairly quick and pulls hard. it was on the car when i bought it. and only driving a stock WRX on test drives before i bought the car i was very impressed with the power. and i still am very happy with the car, but now i want more. not just more turbo, i want 2.5 block. that extra .5 liters of displacement.

I'm with Special K on this one... unless you get a sweet deal on a vf39, why go through all the hassle of swapping turbo when you could add a little extra $ and get something bigger?

It's probably a good point. I'd only have one if I got a great deal on it. I remember SS saying that my engine was basically just begging for more turbo, or something to that affect.

I guess if I really want big torque I'll have to put a bigger snail on. I just really like how my stock unit spools up instantaneously and I don't have to dog the shat out of my engine to make power.

I have stock and MOST DEFINITALLY want more. It'll be a while before I get into the turbo department. What is the highest boost and/or power you can make with stock internals?

    i want me a 20 g

  18. Simple. :) I want a VF39 because I can get it for cheap, run it until I can afford the 20g (and supporting mods) I want, then sell it for about the same that I spent on it originally :naughty: I'm not going into it with the thought that it will be good enough for the long run, just good enough for now.

I'm stock and would like more, but don't see it happening in the near future, if ever. I've basically settled that I don't want to mess with changing the turbo on this car.

it just seems like a bit of a hassle to do a swap then a few months later do another swap. I mean you are not only going to swap the turbo twice but also the injectors. Im sure it will be a fun experience though :)

    QFT.

I have a VF34 and I probably won't be going any bigger because I drive ~100 miles/day to work and back. Reliability > Fast IMO.

    definately vf39, even over a 20g.

though, I do like my evo's stock turbo better :)

what do evos come with? 16G?

VF29 here. Its the smallest of the IHI turbos but I can get 19psi before 3000 in the higher gears. I've never gotten a good dyno of it but it's torquey and still has more topend than stock.

I'd love more power but I like a lot of torque so this turbo works out really well.
