ok, so i bought some 18"x7.5ADR rims and when i get my tax returns im buying tires. i cant wait to put them on. my question is what size tire should i go with i have seen many different set ups and heard many different opinions on what size to go with. i am thinking about 225/40zr18 but not sure if i shoud go with a wider tire or not. what have some of you guys gone with and how do you like what you went with? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&item=300057420119
The widest you could go safely is a 235/40/18. The 245, really requires an 8" rim to handle well. Otherwise, with the 245 on a 7.5" you are depending a lot on how strong the sidewalls of the tire are. The 235 is plenty enough grip for the WRX though. I run a 225 now, but this month I am also buying some tires in the 235. If you have an idea about how you want to use these tires (street only, street/autox, etc...) some people could give you some tire brands to look for. Personally, I am going with cheap, high treadware, street only, because I already have R comps.
i had 235/40/18 on my bugeye... i didn't have any rubbing, maybe cuz i had stiff coilovers... here are some pictures
i am not sure what brand i will go with but i will def. look into 235/40zr18. thanks for the pix milo. i had some azenis on my stock rims and they only lasted 12,000 miles. i want some tires that will last longer than that. i would like them to last atleast 30,000 miles. i wouild like some 60,000 mile tires but not sure ill get that with any tires i get. i dont do much track or auto x mostly just back and forth to work. any suggestions?
Well, if you are just looking around for some generally decent tires check out the Kuhmo Estca SPT -- They're a great tire for the buck.
thanks alex, i will have to check those khumos out. i will keep you guys posted and when get them put on the car ill post sime pics thanks again for all the input
I am planning on getting the Falken Ziex's in the 235, they are only like 60/tire. They are all season and have a decent treadware. www.vulcantires.com
