We have a winner... The boost was fine. I am slowly working the tune back up to 2 bar in 1st,2nd and 3rd like Scott had it before. It's just that damn redline comes so fast in first I hit 7710 rpms before the rev limitter kicked in. The rev limitter is set to 7200. I need to figure out why it overshoots by so much.
Holy crap Mike! You have an insatiable thirst for destruction. Was crashing the Corvette not enough for you? (<- bad joke) Why do I have a feeling that picture was taken on Mabry Rd....?
I was just the co-driver but I think I messed up my pace-notes. 100 metres, kink right severity 2 should have been 100 metres, kink right severity 4. So as a note to everybody out there I make a terrible co-driver.
I checked my peak RPM since I remember I had hit the limiter in 1st a couple days back. 7452!!!! Hope nothing is broken hnoes:
Is this reading from the tach or the ECU? My tach will read higher than when I am logging with ST. I have run nit to 7400 on the tach and then looked at the log and it was only like 69xx.
avc-r uses the rpm signal wire to the ecu and it is very close to what the ecu logs will show. Its off ever so slightly just from the difference in the sampling. My tach on the other hand show about a 200 rpm difference when you get closer to redline. When I had the 20g I once I hit 7960 rpms. That was on a shift from 4th to 3rd instead of 5th. Talk about scary. Even if I had a redline like GTScoob I think it would take me a long time to get the nerve to pull 8500 on purpose :eek4:
Youre not going to hurt anything spinning it to 7800. There are plenty of guys spinning theirs to 8000 at the drag strip.
I don't know if milo is worried but I'm not. My engine is balanced and I had the flywheel and pressure plate balanced together. I also have a better valve train than stock and am running an ej22 oil pump. When I get everything in order I plan on setting up my tune to have a soft rev limitter around 7400. Ie dump the boost and start backing off timing and then have the hard limitter around 7600. That will give me a better window to shift in without hitting fuel cut and losing time.
I plan on doing exactly that pulling out of BG onto Atlanta Rd and topping out 1st gear :naughty: I'll do it every once in a while but from the looks of the dyno its not really going to be worth it to rev it that high, it'll be nice when I get a larger turbo but for now it'll just provide flexibility. Your motor should be good to rev high, especially with the upgraded oil pump. What crank are you running?
