Other than browsing Nasioc and other Subie forums and watching eBay, where in the world do you look to find 2006 STi 6 spds? I will soon be in the market for one.

Buy an entire wrecked 06, take what you need and part out the rest...

Buying an entire car isn't feasible. I can't swing $12K+ for a wrecked car.

Will how often do you come across 6 spd trannies at the shop from the wrecked cars?

I bet you would. At that point I'd keep the 07 6 speed :ddirty: :fawk: .

    Never.

The biggest mistake I made was not buying the one Doug had for sale months ago for $1,500.

Call up JDMSpecC4U and see what they've got in stock, they're always bringing in new cars and parting them out so even if its not on their FS thread on nasioc they might have it. They hardly ever check the forums but if you call them they normally pick up quickly.

Their number is 1-800-400-3792, ask for Andre. I just got off the phone with them and they've got 1 ver8 DCCD tranny in stock and a couple more coming in on monday.

There have been a lot of 02-05 wrx's for sale recently. I would bet that within the next year used 06's will start showing up as the new 08s come out. Despite what anyone thinks about its styling, people still want new stuff and will trade up.

What does a wrx have to do with a Sti transmission?

GTScoob....I don't know if I really want a JDM 6 speed. I decided against revving out the engine for cost and reliability sake. I do a LOT of highway driving so sitting at 4K rpms at 80 mph isn't a fun thing.

The wrx has a "glass" tranny and different gearing...STi 6sp :lockd:

you may want to hit up Matt Slowwrx, I know he was talking about selling the one out of his 06 a while back.

The WRX transmission isn't a fucking "glass tranny" -- you can see a fair number of cars pushing near 300 awhp with the transmissions holding fine. If something breaks once you get near TWICE the output of a factory car you can't really bitch about it.

my 02 tranny survived many 1.6 -1.7 launches at the strip with over 400wtq. They are not glass. It is when people throw a 6 puck then dump it and expect it to survive that issues arise.

Stay with the stock clutch and don't dump it and they will survive.
