94 impreza, 110hp ej18 w/push style 5 mt. Swapping in a 99 165hp ej25d and I'm wondering which clutch I should buy. I'm concerned with the 50% increase in horsepower that an oem replacement designed for the 1.8l won't cut it. Will a different clutch/pressure plate work?

This is my daily and won't get any hp increasing mods, just need something reliable.

If it's a daily trust me you don't want to upgrade the pressure plate unless you have an iron left foot lol. I would just get an exedy stage 1 and call it a day.

well being that the flywheels, input shaft and spline count are the same between the two models it may be too obvious of what your choices are

Solution done! That should be all that you need. Wow doing another swap? How's your Ej205 one holding up?

Well, the 205 has been parked since mid summer, I've been trying to buy a house outside of Gwinnett county to avoid emissions. Long story short, the house I was trying to buy fell through because it had a lien on it so I'm back to square 1. The car needs to have some suspension adjustments and I need to break in the clutch, but I didn't want to drive it without a tag so it's sitting until I get this housing issue situated.

The 25d swap is actually really simple, the motor is plug and play with my ej18 engine harness. I'm just trying to keep the car reliable and cheap to drive, it literally saves me $150 per month in gas and has already payed for itself.

Aww man that sucks. I'm lucky in that my parents have a business outside of Gwinnett so I don't have to worry about emissions lol. Man I didn't know the motors were plug and play! I'm thinking of picking up an older 1.8/2.2 GC.

Yea I'm not so worried about the motors, just worried about the wiring. The wiring from my 98 to 03 WRX was a disaster LOL. It was also due to the fact that I didn't know until the end that I bought an auto harness. Anything over 8 wires and I freak out LOL. As long as wiring is minimal I don't mind. I hate wires.

I was actually going to do a writeup for the forum this weekend on the swap. It requires almost nothing more than pulling the engine harness from the 1.8 and connecting it to the 2.5l intake manifold. There are a few odds and ends, like JB welding an EGR hole closed, or shaving the injector clips, but its really simple stuff.

Clutch arrived today, guess I need to start another thread and get to work!
