I think this is the same track that people call little talladaga. Anyway, a bunch of us from work are renting it out for a day and I just wanted to get the opinions of people who have been there... I was just wondering basic things like lap times, speeds and track conditions.
That place is a blast. I think I ran 1:12s going clockwise in a stock STI. If anyone else wants to do a track day I would be happy to organize it. Matt
thats where we went for siegel's driving school... dunno what times i ran but i hit a top speed of between 100-105 mph on the back straight... i think its a relatively safe track with limited barriers
It's a safe track but can still bite you if you are not careful. Clockwise is the fastest and safest I think. I had a blast when I have run there in the past.
when we went up there for scott's school, we ran counter clockwise... supposedly if u run clockwise, theres more chance for lip damage :dunno
There are a few places there that you could put it into a tire wall but you would have to screw up pretty bad. Just remember to brake early at the end of all the straights, there isnt huge time to be gained in those braking zones anyways. Matt
thanks guys....it looks like we won't be going until november, so it'll be a little while, but I'll report back how it went. It should be fun since we have a large variety of cars going. Corvettes, RX-7, Mustangs, Sti, Porsche, old skool ferrari...
go to http://www.siegelracing.com/tgpsti.html scott did a great write-up of of driving through the track in an STi, he notes some of the nuances of the track.
Its an interesting track, inexpensive to rent out, little chance for damage, only done on motorcycle. Not my fav.
last time I was ther thier was a GT2 with 500+rwhp that was running 1:07 lap times. I think counter clockwise is the safer route. Its a great track you guys should have fun.
I'm so MAD....our day at the track is on monday and I just found a nail in my tire. Now I have to use my all season tires. THIS SUCKS!!!
Dude, if you have like 30 minutes tomorrow you could go get the tire patched. I have the same problem which is keeping me from driving my car at the Auto X Sunday. I am going to try to get it patched tomorrow on my lunch break.
I tried that, but the nail is right through the outer shoulder. The guy at the tire store said he could patch it, but it would only be good as a street tire. Otherwise the patch would likely come off under high loading. I don't mind getting new tires...probably victoracers or something, but it is just really bad timing.
Track day was amazing. We had a great time and no casualties other than tires and brake pads. Me smokin' a boxter. I'll write up a complete summary soon.
