While my downpipe is off the car now is the time to get my wideband bung welded in. I don't have one and don't know where to look for one and get it shipped fast without paying stupid shipping prices. I was thinking of finding a high grade nut that will thread onto the wideband and having it welded on. Can anyone foresee any danger in doing so?
I think the innovate wideband products come with a weld-in bung. If you've already got a wideband, then no, I can't forsee any problems. Just make sure it's the same pitch and thread as the sensor setup.
Most shops keep wideband bungs and plugs in stock. I know Batlground does, just make sure you are welding it in the right spot.
I put an Innovate LM-1 on my car with an XD-16 gauge. You can get all of the Innovate products from Jerry Hoffman at http://www.diyautotune.com They have a shop up in Lawrenceville/Suwanee, and are great standup guys! They also sell a weld-in bung attachment separately: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/innovate-motorsports-oxygen-sensor-bung-plug-3736-p-71.html I bought that and had it welded onto my DP by WJM.
i would not use a nut 1. its too short 2. not enough threads 3. may distort if you buy one i would grind flats so you can use it if the o2 ever gets stubborn. and grind a slight curve so that its easier for the welder and better assurance of no leaks
