WRB STi on I-85

Discussion in 'General Community' started by bluelinescooby, Mar 31, 2005.

  1. So my buddy calls me and says, "Hey Dan, guess what I just pulled over..." Turns out he clocked a blue STi going whatever over the speed limit down 85. Apparently it was an older gentleman driving (who I think told my buddy it was his nephew's car). Anyway my buddy said he was so amused by the fact that an older guy driving that car (he knows good and well what I drive :) ) was flying down the interstate, that he let the guy off with a warning. Just thought I'd post and see if anyone owns up to it. :D

hahaha.... that wasn't me... but if u ever see a not so old guy in a black bug eye with risers and black rims... please be nice :D

  3. Oh I'm Officer Freakin' Friendly as often as I can be.... :D just sometimes people don't allow me to extend that courtesy, for whatever reason.... they'd rather be "difficult" cuz they think they "pay my salary," and I "work for them...." those people go to "jail." Most everyone else is ok :bigthumb:

Anyhow, I work down near Snellville and Grayson and such, away from the interstate for the most part, so I'll probably never run into you guys that pop in from Atlanta too much.

Yeah, I have found that if you pull over promptly, put your hands on the steering wheel in plain view, don't fidget around, don't get overly emotional, and most of all, admit that you were doing what you were doing, the cops are not too bad around here. Arguing gets youy nothing but a ticket. Plus, if you argue the ticket (correct me if I am wrong here) the officer is more likely to remember you and show up in court if you go. I got pulled over on 78 one morning for driving aggressively. I admitted that I did what the officer obviously saw me do, didn't think it was aggressive (I was just trying to get around a slow work van that wasn't using his turn signal to change lanes), but I didn't tell him that. He gave me a warning and sent me on my way. He was pretty steamed when he came to the car, but the fact that I was fairly calm, made him relax I think.

Was going to say it was probably me, but I didnt get pulled over

    Great story though :bigthumb:

Oh, I meant to say, I didnt know you were a police offer yourself until Milo pointed it out to me. I am very pleased to have an officer on the forums, in case I never got the chance to say it, welcome :bigthumb:

    Cheers,
    Alex

  7. Bingo. That's the way it works. If you can show me honestly (I'll know if you're lying :)) that you understand what you did and are truly apologetic about it, I'm much more likely to let you off with a warning. If you choose to put me in a poor mood, things can get just as bad as you want them to.

That said, sometimes you get tickets. It just happens (and it's happened to me too). Sometimes you just gotta suck it up and take your licks :slap:

Good judgement comes from experience, which is mostly bad judgement :)

  8. Thanks Alex! Hopefully I'll get to meet the rest of you guys sometime soon. I know I met a couple at TopSpeed a few weeks ago. I'll be up at Road Atlanta for the race in the next few weeks if anyone else is going.
