Place: Road Atlanta Event: YearOne Experience Date: May 18-20 (the week after Drift I believe) Price: It is $50 for registration, and that is for as many runs as you can fit into 3 days. I did about 70 runs last year, eating an entire set of tires. (race gas is also available) Most of the cars that will be there, will be mustangs, fire chickens, camaros... But, in the past two years, there has been an increase in imports. I would really like to get a good sized G2G for this one since its more of a "Family" event(Nemisis ). They have arts and crafts for the kids and one of those "blow-up" playgrounds. There are instructors from the Panoz Racing School that will be there to oversee everthing, and to give you pointers if you want to improve your time. The track is asphault with grass of both sides, so it isn't a sea of cones. If you happen to spin out, it is just flat grass on both sides with nothing to hit. :naughty: I actually came in first place last year and won a really cool trophy and $500, here are some pictures from last year. If you've never done an Auto-X before, this is the one to do since you have coaches, its cheap, and trust me, you won't be the slowest out there. Here is a link with more information http://yearone.com/Events/TYOE/Post-Event+Coverage/2006+YearOne+Experience+Autocross/default.aspx UPDATE: OK, this year they've changed the participant pass from $30 to $50. A $50 participant pass is good for all three days and is purchased at the ticket booth upon entering the track. Once you buy the pass, you will proceed to the tower on pit road for registration. They just want your name, vehicle, and where your from for their own stats. (There will be directional signs telling you where to go if your unfamiliar with Road Atlanta) Here is an incar video from one of the instructors, so you can use this as your course walk-through. http://media.yearone.com/yoex/ra%20AutoX.wmv If you plan on attending, PLEASE send me a PM so I can update the list. Hellzzzz YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I am so in. can you post more info as you get it, please? this looks like so much fun. Thanks for the heads-up. i.e. registration
Sure thing. As far as registration, you just go to the tower on pit lane and give them you basic information, pay the $35 (or whatever it is this year), and get your participant sticker.
If you watch the 'Forza Motorsports Showdown' on SPEED Wed. night, they'll be running on this autocross course.
When is the registration deadline? I need more details about this (tires, classing, run/work info, etc.). You may want to move this to the Auto-X forum for more interest from that crowd.
This isn't like an SCCA or NASA event, the only classes are s-type and r-type. S= street tires (able to win a trophy and money) R=Race tires. No helmets are required either... basically a grandma in her caddy can roll up off the street, pay money and run. You don't have to work either, the Panoz Racing School supplies the instructors and the cone pickeruppers. The instructors are in charge of the timing and scoring also. Everyone is either in the S class or R class, so the fastest times of the weekend, win. I figured we could get some kind of tournament started between us and/or EvolutionSE once we got there...
I really would like to make it out to this. Hopefully I'll have some other goodies on the car by then.
GP, I'm in too but I doubt I'll have the car upgraded to the next level by then. Are we meeting at a certain place and caravaning there? Also will I need a helmet?
I have no idea about a caravan yet. No helmets required. Just make sure that you take all the loose objects out off your car, or throw it in the trunk
about how many people will show up do you imagine? 50-100 or more like 300-500? in a day that is. what i'm getting at, is there a cut off? sorry, i know you're just sharing the info, but i'm already plotting and scheming. if it fills up fast, i'm going to take that friday off.
No, whoever shows up gets to run, no cutoffs. Last year, there were about 100 different cars that ran over the 3 days, buy only about 30 that ran more than 1 lap. Since this is a muscle car show, they come out back and try the autoX just playing around, and leave. There were times when I would run, sit in line for 1 car, and go back out. Each 'run' is three laps on the course
Here is a list of events: A large, multi-make, participant-vote car show The 2007 YearOne Cup presentation A huge Manufacturer’s Midway An exciting, safe Kid’s Area with lots of activities for the youngsters A tight and twisty dry autocross course presented by Air Ride Technology A wet autocross course The Stainless Steel Brakes Corp 0-60-0 Challenge – The vehicle that accelerates to at least 60 mph and stops in the least amount of time wins A Burnout Competition presented by BFGoodrich tires A portable chassis dyno that will measure rear wheel horsepower and torque* Parade Laps around the 2.54-mile road course* Hot Lap ride-alongs with Panoz Racing School instructors in Panoz GT school cars* The YearOne Experience Track Day – where participants will attend classroom sessions and then explore the limits of their vehicle and ability on the Road Atlanta course in a safe environment* Every year there are quite a few TV shows filming (I was on Hot Rod TV last year) and some VERY VERY VERY nice cars! http://yearone.com/Events/TYOE/Post-Event+Coverage/2006+YearOne+Experience+Autocross/default.aspx
You register when you get there. You'll go to the bottom floor of the tower on pit road, and just give them your basic information and get your participant sticker.
this sounds interesting as hell...............i might have to whore myself out & come up with that $30 bones:keke:
looks interesting. i might have to come up there for that event. i will see if i can drag some of the other savannah guys along also
This sounds brilliant! It'll be my first time, I'll try and bring a mate with an old school 535i and a friend in a volvo. Both of them into driving aswell, and I know I should be able to beat them on their first go. Put me down for it! Unless anything bad happens in the time before I will definately try and make it.
