Was able to install the oil pressure sensor before 420s party last weekend

Extension + 8mm hex to remove OEM gallery plug


Extension + 17mm socket to remove OEM plug


OEM plug on left, Defi sensor in the middle and OEM gallery sensor on right


I used my magnetic wand to actually place the OEM gallery sensor, and then a 17mm socket + extension to screw it in


Now maybe Im just not that good, but I wasnt able to thread the defi sensor into the plug with the TMIC still on. With it removed it was substantially easier and I had the help of Ankur's magical fingers...


Used a crows foot to tighten it down


Plug it in, ran through passenger side firewall grommet into controller (mounted in glove box)

Just got off the phone with Chris @ WC Lathewerks and I should have my new knob next week. Ive always been interested in his products, as quality is rated top notch continuously on IWSTi and NASIOC.

What's cool about WC Lathewerks?
Every knob is made on a hand-crank machining lathe with no computerized controls. This means each piece is unique, made one at a time, and has a bit of character that mass-produced pieces cannot offer. Each knob is internally threaded with an M12x1.25 tap and will screw right onto the shift lever.

Why a Lathewerks knob?
The knobs (excluding aluminum...duh) are made of a plastic material called Acetal Copolymer. Acetal Copolymer is a hard plastic which does not suffer the same heat characteristics as metals. This means you can touch it all year long without the need for gloves. For reference, it will stay about the same temperature as the steering wheel at all times. This is a truly impressive material which results in a shift knob that is just the right weight, while transmitting high amounts of feedback to the driver through the shift lever.

Dimensions, etc

• 2.0" Diameter for comfortable size
• 1.8" Height to sit slightly lower than the stock knob
• 105 grams for more feedback than standard knob and a solid feel!
• M12x1.25 direct internal thread for easy screw-on installation
• Recess in bottom for 6-speed reverse ring to give stock appearance

Brass Insert, Why?
The insert adds 25 grams to the mass of the knob, while also providing stronger metal threads inside (a la it will not strip like plastic threading found on most knobs). Additionally, the insert provides the weight of a metal knob with the comfort of the copolymer plastic.





I also had 2 small grooves added to the bottom for that little bit of bling. Similar to this photo below...



Updates to come once the knob arrives. I realize its a bit nutty to be excited about a shift knob but the quality and attention to detail of this one...excites me :ddirty:

Well I threw on the WRX fog lamp cover to see how the car would look if I ran ducting. While I am not one for asymmetrical things, I believe I could live with this...An alternative of course would be to do a single xenon fog light setup in an effort to throw even more light out on the road

I have always been rather disappointed with Subaru's material choice on our door cards. Last week we junked the pajama pants felt and replaced it with a near perfect factory match perforated blue Alcantara. The cards are 1/3 done, if you will. The top portion will be wrapped in black Alcantara soon, as well as the armrest. Ultimately, the upper portion of the car will be done entirely in black Alcantara. This is the reason for wrapping the upper portion of the doors. This should create a seamless transition from the doors to the pillars to the headliner.

These are 04 door cards, the 05 cards are different as I am sure you all know.
