As the tile says my car started too over heat this morning on my way to work. I have a GMS aluminum Radiator and the GMS 160 thermostat also the GMS silicone hoses. Any ideas? Thanks in advance,
theres either no coolant, the thermostat isn't opening, or the waterpump no worky spinny the cooling system is about as simple as it gets
Would think about new timing belt, pulleys, and pump all at the same time. Josh at Import Image or Fred Bean have a good price on package deals.
I know you put in the thermostat a year ago but are you sure you installed it right? They have this hole that has to be facing up (I believe that's right so double check).
SOG putt it in so I hope they putt it in right..... Butt I guess you never know. Butt I am with Matt I would think it would go bad quick....
You need to pressurize the cooling system to see if the system is working correctly. How is it over heating? Is it while you are driving? Or while at a standstill?
Like I said it just it over heated this morning for the first time. Butt it was moving.... I went too lunch and drove around for about an hour and no overheating. So I am not sure.
Sounds like an air bubble. Just drive the car and keep an eye on the coolant gauge. If it creeps up, kill the engine ASAP.
Also make sure the fans are working. I had that problem with my car where one of the fans was not working.
If you do replace the thermostat, get one that fails open....trust me, worth it!! I think the one I used was a Grimmspeed one, can't remember.
Not till I left the cap off an ran the car for about 5min. Then there were some bubbles butt no odd smell.
About a year ago at 120,000ish miles my car started over heating. Had to buy a new radiator. Have not replaced the water pump and the thermostat was last changed at like 80k-ish miles. And I'm fine now at 140k miles.
