i would just do a hybrid dana... get a sti shortblock and use your existing heads with some sti cams inside.

the 06 wrx does have avcs aswell as tgv's, but i'm not sure on the actual difference in cam profiles
interesting it sounded like there was a groove being created in the rotor, not just a line, but i read into it too much.
I would think something got stuck in there when you put them on. Nothing should be on the surface of either the pad or the rotor when you install...
