No reason it won't be. I know TONS of stock turbo'd Evo's tuned to the max.....zero issues.
You can do that on stock turbo and engine. To do that reliably on STi....built.
He never mentioned a "built" Evo. Stock they are quite sound if you do the normal stuff and don't beat the crap out of it.
You are quite strong about not having to do a lot of maintenance....that right there eliminates any Euro brand.

His cons for the STi far outweigh the ones for the Evo. His Evo cons are purely cosmetic and easily fixable too.
But that's an easy fix with some JPM loving :)
Cheap plastic look surrounds and a boring dash.
Evos if done right tend to be more reliable and last longer. They don't make as much tq but you can make so much power so easily with them in...

This looks awesome! Talk about keeping it classy and refined! How much is it to do the entire dash of a 2010 STi like the one in the pic?
Now that's interesting and definately different but why? All HP and no TQ.
Really excited to see what comes of these builds. Are they both going to be similar or both taking different directions?
But aren't heavily modified Subaru's very unreliable? Anything over 380hp seems to always have issues or have to get a built block in a short...
