Haven't looked but the new fluid may be the newer GL5 class which is the severe duty version of AMSoil so you should be good with the new lube...
Any quality GL-4 75w90 will work in a Subaru 5 or 6spd transmission and diffs. I've been running AMSoil in all of my cars since 05 without any issues.

actually the better option would be a one piece driveshaft instead of the center carrier bushings. Surprising how much of a difference that makes...
clean the coils on your unit outside, especially if there is grass growing around the pad.
rear diff bushings and center carrier bushings on the drive shaft should be done next. If you tighten up one end might as well do the rest.
just drive the damn thing and leave the motor alone till it needs something.
new pump and filter should help, not sure if TF is having their fire sale so hit them up.

twin-scroll is ideal for a Subaru especially being that the EJ has a single-plane crank. Not cheap and not well supported therefore not as popular.
